UNDERSTANDING TRAUMA
What is trauma?
Trauma can result from a single event or repeated experiences, and it can affect both the mind and body in a variety of mental, physical, and social ways. Trauma stem from accidents, abuse, loss, or other deeply distressing situations. While everyone's experience is unique, trauma can leave a lasting impact on how we think, feel, and relate to others.
Trauma is the word we use when data enters the mind and does not process through in the way the other things do. Trauma is a misread of information, causing the subconscious mind to perceive the current circumstance as if it were a prior circumstance (the traumatic event). That is why you may have been reacting the situations that don’t seem to warrant the reaction.
Therapy can help you process these experiences, and allow the mind the get the good news that you survived - allowing you to move on, live to your potential, and be fully present in the moment.

WHY OUR APPROACH WORKS
Why Brain-Based Therapy
Can Work Best For Trauma
Trauma lives in both the brain and the body, which is why talk therapy alone doesn’t always bring relief. The approaches below work with your nervous system directly, helping the brain process what it couldn’t before so past experiences stop driving your present. Rapid Resolution Therapy, Brainspotting, EMDR and Clinical Hypnotherapy each offer a different way in, and we apply them around your history, your goals and your pace. Our focus is helping you feel calmer, safer and more like yourself, with change that lasts. Learn about all of our therapy methods here.
Reprocess distressing memories and reduce the emotional charge associated with them.
Clear things up fast by using precise eye positioning to access your subconscious processes.
Get clear by tapping into the most responsive part of your brain, creating change without so much effort.
Clear up that thing that’s been keeping you stuck, through experiential, neuroscience-based mechanisms.
Our philosophy
Care that goes beyond talk therapy
We believe healing doesn’t have to take years. Effective healing means aligning your conscious and subconscious mind in precisely the way your mind requires, so that your whole being gets that you are safe, you survived, and you are HERE now. You just need the right key to unlock that door for you.
At FreeMind, we don’t like to waste time. We personalize every treatment plan to the goals, modalities, and pacing that is right for you. With advanced, neuroscience-based training, our team is highly motivated to help you achieve optimal outcomes.
